EXTRAORDINARY MEETING OF COUNCIL – 23 JANUARY 2015
FIT FOR THE FUTURE LOCAL GOVERNMENT REFORM
Following a facilitated workshop with Councillors and Senior Staff of Bombala,
Cooma Monaro and Snowy River Council's last week, John Cahill Mayor of
Snowy River has called an extraordinary meeting of Council on 23 January
The meeting has been requested for Council to consider engaging technical
experts to prepare business cases on various options to enable Council to
consult with the Community before preparing the response to the State
Government's Fit for the Future Local Government Reform Program.
"At last week's workshop it became very apparent that Council has very little
time to undertake a proper process with our community about Council's
future" stated Joe Vescio, General Manager. To accept the State
Governments offer of 50% funding for the merger business case, which
Council is obligated to consider, and get the work started the General
Manager suggested that rather than wait for the scheduled meeting on 10
February an extraordinary meeting be called so staff can begin the process of
appointing a technical advisor. The submission must be lodged by 30 June
Members of the Public are welcome to attend the meeting which will be held
at Berridale Community Hall from 9.30am.
The next scheduled meeting of Council will be Council meeting as Delivery
and Operations Committee on 10 February 2015 commencing at 1pm at the
Berridale Community Hall.
